Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to common questions about using our tool, its features, and how it handles your data privacy.
No, static QR codes (the type we generate) never expire and will work forever. The data is encoded directly into the QR code itself, so as long as someone has the image, it'll scan correctly. This is different from dynamic QR codes offered by some paid services, which redirect through a server and can expire if you stop paying. Our codes are permanent and need no ongoing service.
For business cards, aim for at least 0.8" x 0.8" (2cm x 2cm) minimum. For flyers and posters, 2" x 2" (5cm x 5cm) or larger works best. The key rule: the scanning distance should be roughly 10x the QR code size. So a 1" QR code is scannable from 10" away. For billboards or signs viewed from far away, make them much larger—6" to 12" or more. Always test a printed sample before mass production.
Not with static QR codes generated by our tool, as they contain no tracking mechanism—scans happen offline between the phone camera and the encoded data. To track scans, you'd need a dynamic QR code service that redirects through a tracking server. However, if your QR code points to a URL you control, you can track visits using Google Analytics or similar web analytics tools.
Error correction allows QR codes to remain scannable even if partially damaged or obscured. Low (7%) is fine for digital-only codes. Medium (15%) is the default for most uses. Quartile (25%) is good for printed materials that might get dirty or worn. High (30%) is best if you're adding a logo overlay or the code will be in harsh conditions. Higher correction levels make the QR code more complex and slightly larger.
